Many Christians are experiencing jealousy toward other brothers and sisters. First, I want you to know the meaning of Jealousy.
From the Webster’s dictionary, it explains into several ways.
An unhappy or angry feeling of wanting to have what someone else has.
An unhappy or angry feeling caused by the belief that someone you love.
From the Wikipedia, it descripts:
Jealousy is an EMOTION and typically refers to the negative THOUGHTS and FEELINGS of INSECURITY, FEAR, and ANXIETY over an anticipated loss of something that the person values, such as a relationship, friendship, or love. Jealousy often consists of a combination of emotions such as ANGER, SADNESS, and DISGUST.
Now, let us look at scriptures.
1 Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly—mere infants in Christ. 3 You are still worldly. For since there is JEALOUSY and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans?
It is serious matter. Scriptures constantly warn us about such matter. In fact, we are considered worldly and flesh! If the love of God is in us, there must not be a hint of jealousy. So many Christians are jealousy of other’s anointing, gifts and prospering ministry. IF we love Jesus with all our heart, and IF our ONLY goal is to advance His kingdom, winning the souls to Jesus, we rather be happy about others blessings. We in fact have to help, cheer them up so that their anointing, gifts and ministry can prosper and mature. .
Wouldn't it be what Jesus wants? We must also understand that they paid so much price to reach such level of their blessings in every area of their life. If you want it instead of being jealuosy, you must work it out to posses it. Should we be constantly compete and be angry about it? We must think others better than ourself. We must be so thankful someone is spiritually, physically and financially blessed by knowing that they will advance the kingdom of God more effectively.
“26 Let us not become vainglorious and self-conceited, competitive and challenging and provoking and irritating to one another, envying and being jealous of one another.” (Galatians 5:24, 26)
If we are competing and being jealousy, our focus has been off. Our only focus must be Jesus, not us. Are we to glorify our self and lift our self among other people? So that we can be praised? What are we trying to prove? What is the root of being jealousy? If you are having problem by being jealousy, ask God to reveal your root of it. If you know that we are jealousy and competitive to others, you must repent because you are not giving all the glory to God but wanting to share it. And the scary thing is that you will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
“14 But if you are selfish and have bitter jealousy in your hearts, do not brag. Your bragging is a lie that hides the truth.15 That kind of "wisdom" does not come from God but from the world. It is not spiritual; it is from the devil.” ( James 3:14)
Jealousy is a “spirit” and it is devil. Continue to cast it out, if you feel it in you. It stirs you up and murdering your brothers and sisters. It prevents you do God’s kingdom work, it stops you from growing and maturing in spirit and it will eventually grow up to murder others by drawing hatred in your heart. Which you may know that “Hate” is also a spirit, devil.
Read the story about King Saul and David. Envy, Jealousy led to the war against brothers. Jealousy not only destroys others, but it will lead you into the destruction. Didn't Jewish pharisees and religious leaders killed Jesus? They were burning with Jealousy toward Jesus. Jealousy will bring all types of spirits to destroy you and others. It is very strong spirit, but IF you only persistently cast it out, it will flee. Do not feed it by obeying it’s desire.
“These patriarchs were jealous of their brother Joseph, and they sold him to be a slave in Egypt. But God was with him." Acts 7:9
"Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy." Romans 13:13
Above scripture stated, Let us walk properly as in the daytime. So this can interpreted other way, if we are jealousy we are not walking properly as in the daytime. Those who are jealousy is in darkness.
"For jealousy makes a man furious, and he will not spare when he takes revenge."Proverbs 6:34
"Surely resentment destroys the fool, and jealousy kills the simple." Job 5:2
I had jealousy working within me, but I was delivered from it. It was not easy, I had to fight to overcome but not by my might, it was by His might. God will help you be delivered and overcome but there is one condition. Only IF you put every effort and cry out to God to rescue you. God has power to deliver us from it instantly but our heart and mind must be fixed first.
He requires our willingness and obedience to His word. Let us resemble Jesus. Let all the darkness in us to be cleansed by blood of Jesus. May the Lord lead you and guide you in all ways.
